“Following Veneto – said County Coincillor for tourism, trade and thermal baths Anna Rita Bramerini- Tuscany is one of the favourite destinations for 8 million Italian/foreign tourists that yearly choose our country to spend a holiday in campgrounds or caravans because of the high quality of our offer. Recent data show there is an availability as far as villages/campground are concerned which amounts 231 units, and a total amount of 169.000 beds. 55% of customers are Italian, 45% of the customers are foreigners and average stay in campgrounds is 7 days.
“Itinerant tourism – the Councillor continued – is a way to discover the territory which is different from the one offered by the big hotels and resorts. Moreover it is suited to beautiful environmental areas. This sector is extremely dynamic. During these last years it saw an average turnover of 2.3 billion € and meant work for 43.000 operators. The itinerant tourist who travels around our region and discovers the coast, mountain villages, ancient roads like the via Francigena or the Etrurian ruins, is our ideal tourist. We aim at improve our offer, which is good already, in order to suit his needs.”
